Donation offer is a service making charitable donations easier, by means of payment through Orange mobile phone bills.

Donation by SMS gives associations an additional payment option for their fundraising campaign.
Simple and quick, donors just need to send an SMS from a mobile.

How does it work

  1. The donor sends a specific keyword by SMS to the organization’s 5-digit short code
  2. The organization sends an SMS back to the donor, confirming that the donation has been received
  3. The donation amount is charged on the donor’s next mobile bill, or debited from their prepaid account

Monthly donation

The regular monthly donation allows charity associations and organizations to gain new donors and secure their long-term support. Seamless and quick, the donation is made in 2 clicks.

Simple and tailored to consumer habits, this method expands the donation options.
 
The donation amount, charged on the next mobile bill or deducted from the donor’s prepaid account, is paid directly to the organization by Orange.
 
Authorized in 2016 following adoption of the Digital Republic Law, micro-donation fundraising offers the advantage of donating without needing to provide personal information or bank details.

How does it work

  1. The donor visits a monthly donation web page
  2. They provide the information requested by the association, and choose the monthly donation amount
  3. They choose payment on Orange bill, enter their mobile number, and confirm the donation
  4. The donor is redirected to the Orange payment page, where they enter the code received by SMS to confirm
  5. They receive a confirmation SMS from Orange and an SMS from the association with a link to the Terms of Service
  6. The association can send a tax receipt to the donor using the information provided during sign up

The customer journey

The donation by SMS journey

  1. the association signs up with af2m to a 5-digit short code starting with a 9
  2. Af2m activates the number with operators
  3. mobile users can send the keyword indicated by the association via SMS

 

 
Communication
 
The association can use a fundraising campaign to :
  • present their role and primary objective,
  • indicate the specific keyword to use to support their cause,
  • clearly indicate the purpose and amount of the donation.
 
Sending the SMS
 
To support the association's cause :
  • Enter the keyword indicated by the organization in an SMS, e.g., DONATION
  • Send this SMS to the short code dedicated to this organization, it starts with 92 and has 5 digits
 
 
Receiving the SMS
 
  • The donor receives a message from the organization, confirming that their donation has been received.
  • Each donation by SMS cannot exceed €20 per month (per association and per user) and the donor cannot donate more than €50 per month using this option
  • A tax receipt can be requested by clicking on the content link in the confirmation SMS that is sent to the donor after making their donation
Billing
 
  • The donation amount is charged to the donor’s next mobile bill or debited from the donor’s prepaid mobile account
  • No VAT is applied

The regular monthly donation journey :

  1. the association asks af2m to open a monthly donation service
  2. the contract partner (association or aggregator) signs the Special Terms and Conditions linked to Orange’s Terms of Sale
  3. the association creates a monthly donation web page
  4. mobile users visit the association's site and choose a monthly donation amount

 

Subscription page
 
To support the association's cause :

1.The donor visits a monthly donation subscription web page

They can access it:

- through the association’s website or app
- by scanning a QR code
- by clicking on a banner or a post on social media
 
2.The donor completes a form with the information requested by the association, and chooses the monthly donation amount
Confirmation
 
 
  1. The donor chooses payment via Orange bill from the solutions offered
  2. They enter their mobile number and confirm the donation
  3. The donor is redirected to the payment page managed and hosted by Orange, where they confirm payment
Confirmation code
To secure the transaction :
  • An OTP SMS with a code is always sent by SMS
  • The user must enter the code on the Orange payment page and confirm

Confirmation SMS

Once the transaction is complete, the donor receives confirmation of the monthly donation on the association’s site
They receive two SMS :
  • an SMS from Orange confirming subscription to the service
  • an SMS from the association with a link to the Terms of Service

Sign up to the Donation offer

For sign up to the Donation offer you must :

  1. be an organization meeting the terms of Art. L521-3-1, I 2) of the French Monetary and Financial Code
  2. have the legal permissions and/or authority required to meet the Contract obligations
  3. have a valid Orange light gallery SMS+ contract (monthly donation)
  4. follow the Short Code reservation procedure established by af2m (SMS donation)
  5. adhere to Orange ethical standards, notably in terms of anti-corruption and economic sanctions

The service can only be started by submitting a request to Af2m (French Association for the development of Multi-Operator Multimedia Uses and Services).
For Donation by SMS, if the request is accepted, the organization receives a unique 5-digit short code starting with a 9.
