The solution to pay for travel tickets via the Orange mobile bill

Transport ticketing is is a solution to buy a travel ticket from a mobile, with the cost directly charged to the Orange mobile bill (or debited from the prepaid account):

either by sending an SMS to a short code, or by using in-app payment by bill,
or by using in-app payment by bill.

How does it work (via SMS)

The user sends an SMS to the transport company’s 5-digit short code
The transport company receives the SMS and sends and SMS back to the user which acts as a ticket
The inspectors view the SMS on the customer’s phone to check they have paid
The ticket amount is charged to the user’s Orange bill or debited from their prepaid account

How does it work (in app)

The user buys their ticket and chooses payment via Orange bill
if automatically recognized, they pay easily in a single click
The purchase is then confirmed
A payment confirmation is sent by SMS and payment charged to the next Orange bill

Ticket inspection

On request by the driver/inspector, the user must show the payment confirmation received by SMS.
The inspector views the SMS on the customer’s phone to check they have paid.
The tickets can be checked using an optical character recognition system.
Automatic, visual and manual scans are carried out using the inspection app.

1 - The user sends a key word by SMS (e.g. “BUS”) to the transport company’s 5-digit short code

2 - The transport company receives the message and sends a SMS back with ticket confirmation and the price

Example: purchasing 3 SMS ticket for 3 passengers

1 - The user sends a keyword by SMS (e.g. “BUS”) 3 times
to the transport company’s 5-digit short code

2 - The user receives a message by SMS with
ticket confirmations and the price

- In app

Example: purchase without creating an account

1 - The user chooses default payment via the Orange bill

2 - They are automatically recognized and pay in a single click

3 - The purchase is confirmed

Example: purchase without creating an account via Wi-Fi

1 - The user buys their ticket and chooses payment by Orange bill

2 - They enter their phone number

3 - They continue the purchase journey on an Orange page

A code is sent via SMS

4 - The user enters the code received and confirms payment

Pricing structure

The Travel Ticket solution works based on a flexible cost SMS:

you are free to determine the validity of the travel tickets you offer,
your users can buy several passenger with a single phone.

The contract partner determines the price of travel tickets in the area applicable to use of the Service, with the following limits:

minimum price: €0.50
maximum price: €16.00

Travel Ticket is a secure payment solution to easily buy public transport tickets using a mobile.

The purchase amount is added to the mobile bill or debited from the prepaid account.
This multi-operator solution requires a technical connection. To benefit from it and access all the features, some criteria must be met.

To deploy the Travel offer, you must:

be a private transport company not subject to public accounting rules,
be a technical service provider with the legal and regulatory permissions and/or authority,
follow the short code reservation procedure established by Af2m.
